Habitat

Everyone likes nice comfortable home even lizards.  Your pet’s habitat has to be warm, cool, and make them feel safe at home.  You can choose from the popular glass tanks which have a low price tag and are very easy to find. 

Some pet owners complain that they do not keep heat very well and their bearded dragon seems to lose color.  They can also be heavy and once you get it all arranged and furnished it will be a pain to move around.

Your choice for tanks is glass, melamine, PVC cages, and vision cages.  The glass cage being the cheapest and easy to purchase since you can pick them up at your local pet store.

Tank Size:  You can either purchase a smaller tank if you’re getting a baby bearded dragon.  It’s best to pick a cage that fits their age and size they will be more comfortable and relaxed.  Some people opt to just purchase a larger tank in the beginning and just let their pet grow into their environment.

Bedding

Your choice of bedding will depend on whether you’re pet is a baby or an adult lizard.  For adult dragon you can purchase calcium sand or you can use reptile carpet, cardboard or news paper.  It is recommended that you use reptile carpet for juvenile bearded dragons.

Hiding Area

Since bearded dragons in their natural environment hide to protect them selves it is natural for them to require a hiding area in the cages.  Don’t worry you can pick up a rock cave or hollow log that is perfect from the pet store or online. 

Basking Area

Now who doesn’t like to lay in the sun for a bit?   Well bearded dragons love to bask.  They are cold blooded creature so they use the sun to keep warm and stay healthy.  The ideal basking material is a smooth rock, hollow log or even branches.

Plants

You can use artificial plants or live plants in your pet’s cage.  By using plants you will provide shade and gives a more natural desert look.  Be sure to get non-toxic plants for you bearded dragon new home.

Branches

Bearded dragons love to climb as you will soon find out.  By providing branches you give your pet several natural activates to enjoy.  When picking branches be sure to get the right one for the size of you pet and tank area.  You want the branch to be a comfortable fit and safe.
